SPECIFICITY OF GENERALIZED EXPECTANCY LOCUS OF CONTROL INDEVELOPING EFFECTIVE DEPRESSION PREVENTION STRATEGIES ANDINTERVENTIONS

Abstract

Generalized locus of control expectancy as a regulatory function of personality is a key construct in psychology. The purpose of this material is to focus attention on the specifics and role of locus of control studied in the context of depression and mental health in relation to the development of strategies and interventions to reduce the risk of developing depression. Through a review of the scientific literature, the main key aspects of the psychological concept of locus of control are presented, the relationship between the generalized expectation of locus of control and depression is analyzed and how this construct can be a useful and significant factor for developing and building adaptive and effective strategies for depression prevention.
