Abstract

What is a character and how to build it in the mind of dancers? – this is an interesting question, the answer of which requires more than just theoretical knowledge, but also continues practical work. The reason is that dancers are not used to creating or building a stage character for themselves and often rely on their choreographer to give them a finished solution. Nevertheless, in the last few decades the dancers are also trying to show themselves as choreographers. This requires abilities for creating a complete performance with a storyline and profound character development. That’s where the difficulties begin. The following text comments different forms and stimulus for creating a character, citing great minds as Stanislavski, Michal Chekhov and other theater figures, but transforming their ideas in the sphere of Art.
