Abstract

Since ancient times, there has been a belief that sometimes suffering, challenges and struggles can lead to positive personal or societal changes, even when they leave indelible scars and lasting wounds from the experience. This article seeks a therapeutic way out of traumatic injury by examining some of the available theories and practices, such as resilience and post-traumatic growth, developed to overcome the problem of trauma and achieve a positive outcome.

This article also contains materials that are a continuation of the questions raised in the study “Trauma in a Religious Context” by finding corresponding growth zones in one of the five established psychological areas of PTR, which includes: Spiritual or existential change: Development of new and deeper spiritual beliefs, a sense of higher purpose or a change in one’s own philosophy of life.
