Abstract

The paper examines the value foundations of leadership through the lens of axiology as a philosophical inquiry into the nature, meaning, and role of values. It analyses the relationship between individual value orientations, leadership behaviour, and responsibility for decisions. Particular emphasis is placed on justice, respect, solidarity, and trust as the foundations of relationships between leaders and followers. Examples from education and sport illustrate how value-based choices are expressed in concrete actions and support cooperation and the achievement of shared goals. The paper argues that sustained leadership influence is built through consistency between professed values and actual behaviour.
