Data flow control on the routers connecting the nodes in multiprocessor MPP systems allocates their buffers and the bandwidth of their channels to the data units – packets and flits. The efficient implementation of data transfer is of essential importance for achieving high throughput and low latency. In this paper, a study of a variant of packet transfer between the output channel and the input buffer of two neighboring routers for a Double-loop Hypercube (DLH) interconnection network is presented. The transfer is implemented at a low (hardware) level over a bidirectional full-duplex channel using Virtual Cut-Through flow control. The functional units required for this purpose, their operating algorithms, and the control signals are presented. The software component developed on this basis implements the packet transfer simulation and verifies the correctness of the architectural solutions through the obtained results. The chosen approach achieves high speed in resource switching at the beginning and the end of the transmission, as well as a high degree of channel utilization and throughput.
