Abstract

The necessity of reintegrating neglected interground spaces within the mass housing buildings is precondition not only for transformative innovation of the physical environment but for solution of a very complex task as well – the creation of new community by urban planning techniques.
This article presents a summary of an anthropological survey on inhabitants in the residential districts which is part of research project developed by UACEG and financed by the National Science Fund in Bulgaria. It examines the sides of cultural and anthropological identity for sustainable development as guideline for revitalization of the terrains within the prefabricated residential buildings in Sofia.
