Abstract

Territorial and town planning are specific scientific disciplines of the professional field "Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy" on the domain „Technical Sciences” according to DCM (Decree of the Council of Ministers) 125/2002 on "Classifier of the higher education fields and the vocational strands". However over the past two decades the traditional Bulgarian terms, such as "territorial planning" and "town planning" are unjustifiably replaced by the terms of "spatial planning" and "urbanism". Spatial planning and urbanism are synonyms of territorial planning and town planning, they have a translating character from foreign languages and are unreasonably considered for "modern" in our country. Meanwhile in practice the specialization of architects, engineers, sociologists, ecologists, geographers, economists, etc., trains and profiles them professionally based on the terms of „territorial planning” and „town planning”.
